| Why Did I Join?: At first, I wanted to take advantage of the collective knowledge of my design student peers. I had been a member of the West Valley College Interior Design Club for about a year and enjoyed a multitude of e-mails about interesting events and job postings, before I decided it was time to get more involved. After having co-chaired the Library Chair position for one semester, I felt the need to support the Club in a different function. I held the position of Vice President for two terms to learn all there is to know about leading the Club and am now ready to serve our members as best as I can. | |
| Other Interests & Hobbies: Traveling, training for and running ½ marathons, gardening, reading, making jewelry, and trying new foods. | |

| Why Did I Join?: I’ve been a fan of the club since 2006 when I started looking (from Massachusetts!) at the West Valley College Interior Design program. I’ve always enjoyed the club events, but I decided I wanted to do more– I really wanted to a be part of the behind-the-scenes action. I was also inspired by the recent philanthropy project of the club. I am still new to the area, so I thought it would be a great way to meet others with a passion for interior design. I look forward to carrying on the tradition of excellence of the club and I am eager to help in any way! | |
| Other Interests & Hobbies: Interior design consumes a lot of my time. I also love to read and travel and spend time with my seven brothers and sisters back east. | |

| Why Did I Join?: I joined the club, because I have been a student member of the club since the beginning, and have always admired the hard work, dedication, and seamless coordination the board has always done. They have always put together great programs, provided us opportunities, thrown nice parties, and kept the design library running. These are an incredible service to us students. So, the opportunity to give back to my fellow student community made good sense. I’ve had a lot of experience managing money in past jobs, in our home, and as treasurer of my daughter’s girl scout troop for three years. So, perhaps I can demonstrate to the club some “left brained” math skills in addition to my “right brained” design skills! | |
| Other Interests & Hobbies: I have many interests; but topping the list are traveling, live music, camping, art, architecture, language and history (esp. European), and laughing with my family and friends. I love spending time with my kids, and I count my blessings every day! | |

| Why Did I Join?: I joined the club in order to be around “like-minded” design students and professionals, and to sharpen my leadership skills. The club is a great way to get involved and to learn what’s going on in the ever changing world of interior design | |
| Other Interests & Hobbies: I have two children- 4 and 5 1/2 yrs old, so most of my free time is spent with them! Fortunately, we share similar interest and hobbies: We love to watch cooking shows, cook, (and of course, eat what we cooked!). We then have to exercise to work off all those calories, so we play on the Wii (WiiFit, WiiResort- fencing, bowling, yoga, and strength training). I also love to peruse design magazines and on line shop! |

| Why did I join? I joined the club a couple of years ago. I have always been impressed by the energy, drive and talent of our club’s board members. They always put together great programs which have been very informative for all of us. I recently joined the board because I felt it is time for me to give back and get involve while stay connected with other students and industry professionals. I have been in the program long enough to know some of our needs as an interior design student. So I am hoping with the help of my fellow board members, we will maintain and even improve the great sense of community in our program, provide opportunities for networking which hopefully ease up the transition from being a student to getting your feet in the market…..Without a community we will not have a voice. It is a great honor for me to join the team. | |
| Other interests and hobbies: I enjoy listening to music, drawing, painting….and love traveling. I also love spending time with my family, play with my two kids and our dog .Life is good! | |

Why Did I Join? After attending a few design club events in the previous year, I realized how much of a necessity networking within the industry can be. I also had the opportunity to meet a few of the board members in my classes and was aware of how strong of a support network they are to each other and the school. After a little encouragement, I volunteered and am happy to say I am thrilled about the upcoming semester! |
|
| Other Interests & Hobbies: The majority of my time is spent with my three year old daughter who keeps me constantly on my toes but more imporantly enjoying the important things in life. I love cooking, shopping, gardening, sewing, traveling (Monterey is a favorite quick getaway) and spending time with my family. | |

| Why Did I Join? I went to the kick off meeting and was motivated to join after hearing the stories about how the club helped past students connect with other students in the program and network with industry professionals. Over the past 15 years, I’ve worked in the technology, Internet and most recently retail. At the retail company I worked for, Elephant Pharmacy, I coordinated all in-store events, classes and community outreach. When I saw the opportunity to use that knowledge to benefit the WVDIDC, I just had to sign up! |
|
| Other Interests & Hobbies: I love food and wine. I also make jewelry and pottery. I enjoy reading, doing yoga & pilates and spending time with my husband and our sweet little bichon frise, Saffron. | |

| Why Did I Join?: When I first joined the club, I wanted to be a board member because I was impressed with how every event I attended was really well organized and professional. I also saw how many great opportunities we can have as students at the events and workshops. I was a college festival board member at my old university in Japan, so I know it is a priceless experience to be part of a team that accomplishes events together. The only problem was, I didn’t have enough confidence to join the board. One day, when I heard the position was opening, I told myself “Don’t miss the chance!” Now, I’m glad I pushed myself to be a member and also I’m excited about what is coming up! | |
| Other Interests & Hobbies: I love drinking wine. I often go to find good wines in the Napa and Sonoma counties with my husband. I enjoy going on weekend short trips around Bay Area as well. I have 2 adorable boy dogs, one is Labrador/Basset Hound mix and another one is Toy Poodle and, well, something mix! I love watching movies with my boys: the dogs and my hubby;-) on the sofa. I also like gardening, and, of course, shopping around! | |

| ID Program Start Date: I started in 2001 taking the Introduction to Interior Design class to see what the profession was all about. I came back in 2008 fully committed and excited to start a new career | |
| Why Did I Join?: I joined because I thought it would be a great opportunity to meet and get involved with others in the field–not only fellow students, but also professional interior designers. In coordinating the Design Library we’re able to go out and pick up sample donations from a variety of designers in the area and see their studios and how they work. I’ve also been in “AWE” of the Design Library ever since I started the program. It’s an amazing resource for us all! |
|
| Other Interests & Hobbies: Spending time with my husband renovating our old Victorian, walking our lab (Jake)…I guess he’s walking me, eating out, shopping at TJ Maxx (bargains), & gardening. | |

| ID Program Start Date:I started in the Interior Design program at West Valley College back in 2003. It started out as a hobby; I was looking for something to do in the evenings that would satisfy my desire to create. Since I am a firm believer in continuing education I enrolled in my first class; History of Furniture and Architecture……I was hooked! | |
| Why Did I Join?:Each semester I try to get more involved, at first I just became a member of the design club, and then at one of the kick offs, I learned about a way to give back to the community through a design firm; Design Response. I joined the firm as the student volunteer coordinator. I also had the opportunity to assist on a project. I have now joined the WVIDC Board and will be filling the Philanthropy chair. This position allows me to continue giving back to the community. | |
| Other Interests & Hobbies:I love to go to school, ski, garden, paint, and enjoy my good friends and loving family. | |

| Why Did I Join?: To be more involved. If there’s something that I really want to do, I can’t just partially do it, I have to get to know it and develop a relationship with it before I nestle in and find my niche. I’m very excited about Interior Design, especially after completely redoing my kitchen and both bathrooms. | |
