Why Did I Join?:  To be more involved.  If there’s something that I really want to do, I can’t just partially do it, I have to get to know it and develop a relationship with it before I nestle in and find my niche.  I’m very excited about Interior Design, especially after completely redoing my kitchen and both bathrooms.
Other Interests & Hobbies:  Reading, learning, my five-year old daughter, movies, sitting on the beach, traveling.

Why Did I Join?: I want to get involved and encourage others to get involved. To join the club, I get many opportunities to get familiar with the field; it is so exciting and supporting. So I decided to join the club board and pass these opportunities to more people and make them get involved.
Other Interests & Hobbies: I love to go fishing and take a walk. Fishing makes me peaceful. Enjoying the sunlight and fresh air, I feel so relax to be in nature. Since living in a rural area, I often talk a walk in mornings or evenings. I may take a camera with me. Some of my great shoots were taken during the times.

Why did I join? I have always found that the best way to pursue your passion is to get involved and to surround yourself with positive, passionate individuals who have similar interests.  I joined the club after the very first session of ID 05 – Introduction to Interior Design and immediately realized that the club activities and members would be the key to my success in the program.  From discussing course options and experiences with “senior” students, to meeting professionals in the field, being a member of the West Valley Design Club has been an invaluable experience.  My goal as ASID Student Liaison is to ensure that all club members and Interior Design students take full  advantage of all the WVCIDC and ASID have to offer.
Other interests and hobbies: I am an “empty-nester”, with a recent college graduate who now lives in Kansas City, and a Junior at Purdue.  When not travelling to visit my children, I love to spend my free time sewing, cooking for friends and family, taking long walks with my husband, and visiting wine country.  We are avid SJ Sharks fans and attend as many home games as our busy schedules allow.

Why Did I Join?:  I procrastinated this a lot, but I finally felt the urge to give back to my school, to the board members who took so good care of me as a student and to the future students, who will keep investing in our school. I like the club’s flexibility of allowing us to choose which position fits us best. With that in mind, my natural inclination was to apply for the IIDA liaison role because I want to focus on commercial design and I’m enthusiastic about this organization and how much it does for the students.
Other Interests & Hobbies:  Spending time with my husband, traveling, hiking, taking pictures and making photo albums, reading, watching movies and TV series. And all things basset hound! I love to take my basset Garnatxa to the dog park and being involved in the activities of Golden Gate Basset Rescue.

Why Did I Join?: I discovered the club after my first semester. I joined because I wanted to be more involved in the community and to learn about the various aspects of the industry. I have since attended many meetings, workshops and seminars, all of which have been informative and inspiring. There is so much to learn in this industry and the club offers members many opportunities to meet professionals at various showrooms, visit museums, and attend galas and seminars. It’s a fun and exciting way to immerse oneself in the industry. Since joining WVIDC, I have had the pleasure of meeting some pretty amazing, creative, and supportive people, both on campus and in the industry.
Other Interests & Hobbies: I love spending time with my family and friends. Weekends are filled with hockey or lacrosse games, dinner parties, or trips to our cabin in Arnold. I enjoy cooking, traveling, reading and working on creative home projects.

Why Did I Join?: My first degree is in Accounting and I landed a really great job before I had even graduated – thanks to all I had learned and the networking I had done as a member of an accounting club at my school.Regardless of the subject or program, classes really only provide the basic building blocks necessary for a successful career. However, by involving yourself in professional organizations such as this club, you can learn so much more about the industry, better understand what career path is right for you, build personal relationships with professionals, and even find jobs. That said, shortly after deciding to start the Interior Design program at West Valley, I joined the club and began participating in various events. I have made so many amazing connections, and have already benefited so much from them (including landing an internship when I wasn’t even looking for one), that I decided it was time to give back and join the board. I want to help continue to move the club forward and educate other students on the importance of being involved in professional organizations such as this one. No education is complete without it.

Other Interests & Hobbies:  Dance (salsa in particular, but any dancing will do), indoor rock climbing, traveling, accounting (yes, it’s true – I am a master of Excel spreadsheets), wine, oh and food too…
